Private Lessons
The Greensboro
Ice House is pleased to present an exceptionally experienced
and talented coaching staff! Our
Figure Skating Director takes pride in matching each student's
needs with the coach's area or areas of expertise. Private
lessons may be scheduled with the assistance of our Figure Skating
Director, Nicole
Stalker 336-852-1515 or
coaches may be reached directly via the contact information outlined
below.
Private lesson fees are paid to the Greensboro Ice House at the
front office. Students will receive a lesson ticket from the cashier ~ please write the student's name on the ticket and present it
to the instructor at the beginning of each lesson. Private lesson fees cover
instruction only and do not include freestyle or public session admission or
skate rental. If clients need to cancel a private lesson, please contact
instructors directly. Coaches have individual policies regarding lesson
cancellation - please be aware of these policies and understand that you may
be charged lessons not taken or canceled without proper notice.
Skaters taking
private lessons on freestyle sessions, must sign in the freestyle
session log book located at the front desk counter and must pay
for ice time at the start of each session skated.

Nicole Stalker
Skating Director of the Greensboro Ice House

Nicole Stalker is the Figure Skating Director of the Greensboro
Ice House and she should be contacted with any Learn to Skate
or figure skating questions, compliments or concerns. Programming
under her leadership includes a US Figure Skating Basic Skills
program of Learn to Skate group lessons, adult courses, pre-school
classes, a home school curriculum, specialty programming
for advanced figure skaters as well as a complete array of
off-ice training opportunities. The Greensboro Ice
House is proud to offer a group class for skaters of all
ages and abilities!

Gloria Barsuhn
$56/hour Gloria Barsuhn has been teaching skating for 6
years. She is a
Gold test medalist in Senior Moves in the Field and Adult Gold Dance. She
additionally passed her Fifth Figure and Bronze Freestyle tests. Gloria
enjoys teaching skaters of all ages and abilities and specializes
in Freestyle and Moves in the Field.

Jo Bullin

Mary Jo Bullin has been teaching skating for 28 years. She is PSA Master
Rated in moves-in-the-field and has a Certified Rating in freestyle.
Gold Test Medalist in figures, freestyle, dance, freedance and moves-in-the-field.
Junior National and National Coach. Toured with Holiday on Ice.

John Carlow, Jr.

John Carlow, Jr., has 30 years of professional skating and coaching experience
and is a member of a three generation family of skaters! John is US Figure
Skating member and is a triple Gold Medalist in Figures, Freestyle and Moves
in the Field. He was the US Junior National Champion as well as a Senior
National and International Competitor. John was also a Star Performer with
World Tour Ice Shows and performed on internationally television events. He
specializes in Freestyle, Moves in the Field, choreography and harness training. He
enjoys teaching competitive skaters of all ages and abilities. |

Gene Holmes has been teaching skating for
8 years. Gene
is a member of United States Figure Skating and is a Gold
Medalist in Moves in the Field and Freestyle. He is
also a Regional Competitor placing 4th in Intermediate Men's
final round. Additionally, Gene has passed Pre-Silver
dances and Juvenile Free dance. Gene specializes in
freestyle and choreography and enjoys working with skaters
of all ages. Gene has just returned from a year touring
the United States with the Universoul Circus, performing
as a principal ice skater. |

Jane Hottinger has been teaching skating for over 30 years. She
is a Canadian Figure Skating Association Double Gold Medalist
in Figures and Freestyle. Jane trained under former
Olympians and has 16 Championship titles. She was Canadian
Pair Silver Medalist and Canadian representative to the North
American Skating Team. She specializes in Freestyle
and enjoys working with skaters of all ages and abilities.

Andrea Jarrell has been teaching skating for
six years and is a member of the Professional Skater's Association,
US Figure Skating and Ice Skating Institute. She holds a
Registered Freestyle Rating with the PSA. She has been skating
since 1988 and has passed her Adult Silver Freestyle, Preliminary
Freestyle, Pre-Juv Moves in the Field and 2 Preliminary dances.
She enjoys teaching skaters of all ages. |

Donna Mancini has been coaching for over 40 years. She
holds memberships with both the Professional Skaters Association (PSA) and
with United States Figure Skating (USFS).
Donna has her 7th figure test and Junior Freestyle test training under
Lillian Tribby and National, World and Olympic Champion, Maribel Vinson Owen.
Donna has coached regional competitors as well as an Adult Junior Ladies
Champion! Donna coaches all levels of competitive
skaters and especially enjoys coaching beginners.

Laura Savage has been teaching skating for 10 years. She
holds memberships in the Professional Skaters Association
and United States Figure Skating. Laura
has Special Olympics teaching experience and was a member
of the ISI national championship adult Synchronized Skating
team from 1987-1989. She enjoys teaching children and
adults who are just beginning skating through low freestyle
as well as coaching hockey basics. |

Audrey Smith

Audrey Smith has been teaching skating for
four years. She is a member of United States Figure Skating
and has passed Intermediate Moves in the Field and Juvenile
Freeskate levels. She competed locally and regionally through
the Intermediate Ladies level. She is from Hillsborough,
NC, where she skated for over 8 years before coming to Greensboro
for school. She has experience running summer skate camps
and working with lots of kids! Audrey enjoys coaching freestyle
to skaters of all ages and levels

Holly Taylor has been skating for 12 years and recently
moved to Greensboro for graduate school.
She has competed in Regional competitions through the Junior
level. She is a member of PSA and United States Figure Skating.
She has passed Junior Moves in the Field, Junior Freestyle
and a Gold Dance.
She enjoys teaching skaters of all ages.

Lance Travis, a Greensboro native has been teaching
for over 18 years. Lance holds memberships in the Professional
Skaters Association (PSA BA) and United States Figure Skating.
Lance is a double Gold Medalist in Freestyle and Pairs. He
was also a 3 time National Junior Men's Competitor,
the 1993 Junior National Pair Champion and the 1995 Senior
National Pair Bronze Medalist.
Lance
was also first alternate to the 1994 Lillehammer Olympics in
Pairs Figure Skating. He trained with World and Olympic Coaches Peter
Burrows, Frank Carol, Carlow and Christa Fassi, Irina
Rodnina and Peter Oppegard. Lance is coach of Regional
Champions, Sectional Medalists and National Competitors. He
specializes in Freestyle, Pairs and Choreography and enjoys
teaching skaters of all ages and abilities.

Lori Woods has been coaching at the Greensboro
Ice-House since the summer of 2007. Originally from Detroit,
Michigan, and skating competitively since the age of 5,
she is a former Eastern Great Lakes Regional competitor
and a qualifying Midwestern Sectional competitor at the
Junior level. She has passed her Junior Freestyle, 7Th
Figure, and Bronze Dances. Having 11 years of off-ice ballet
training, Lori emphasizes choreography and artistic style
in her students skating, as well as proper technique. As
a coach, Lori works to help her students build confidence
and self-esteem by setting attainable goals, and
stressing the importance of a positive attitude in order
to reach their full potential.
